I applied for a dream job in L.A. Cross your fingers.
Pudding in my Prada.
So, have you seen Sex and the City? My hopes weren’t high for the movie. I absolutely adore the show, so in my opinion, it couldn’t be wrapped up again. I was really scared of being disappointed, but I was ready for it. About thirty minutes into it, I was rightly corrected. I’m sure anyone who has seen it knows which scene I’m referring to. From that point on, it was a perfect mix of comedy and drama, just like the show. If you love the show, you need the movie. Go. Right now. Go on.
The movie seriously made me want to bail out on Cali and go with my original plan. It was totally anti-LA and pro-NYC. Of course, it’s just a movie..
I found this amazing website where you can create an account and track your food intake (calories, fat, fiber, protein, etc.) and your fitness. Click here if you want to try it. I started today, because I want to keep track of how much I’m eating. I had 2 yogurts, 2 cups of cereal, 1/2 cup of milk, lots of water, and a peach, and I’m already at 600 calories. That blows my mind when I think of how much I eat when I’m out at a restaurant. Tracking my food is a bit time-consuming, but I’m hoping it helps me with portion control.
Justin and I went in on this. We are the only couple I know who would buy something like that at the Salvation Army. But hey, it’s beautiful and was only $650. It pays off to spend practically everyday thrifting. It’s how we do.
Hello, Benna!
Quickie.
I forgot to mention that I bought a new domain a few weeks back, so update your favorites to hellobenna.com.
Just got approved to take the week off with pay for Cornerstone.
Nice.
This neighborhood wasn’t made for peacocks.
What a month. Best of my life. This is gonna be short and sweet.
Emily flew in from Philly for my graduation party. Amazing gift. I hadn’t seen her in almost ten years. She’s the only reason I made it through junior high.. and the reason I listen to Weezer and can’t look at a dog taking a shit the same way I used to. On the way to my place from the airport, we both looked at each other and burst out in laughter. I knew it would be a good weekend from that point on. Ate everything in sight. Got a free makeover. Raided resale shops. Lily peed on her pants. Good times.
My graduation party was perfect. Happy Joe’s. I wore this shirt I had been wanting that Justin surprised me with. Everyone and their mama came. Lars and Jen made a surprise visit from Springfield. Amazing. My uncle ended up footing the bill. So sweet. Just a really great time surrounded by great people.
I got a Canon 40D for graduation. WTF. Seriously. I’ve been taking a lot of pictures. Did a shoot with Torn From the Throne. All the pictures are on my Flickr.
The day after graduation, I started a new job. Full-time and benefits. No nights. Killer. I’ll still be at Hot Topic for extra money to put towards the Cali fund. I’m moving in with Justin pretty soon to help save even more. His mother is being absolutely amazing to us. I sold most of my furniture to Nikki and Nicole. All that’s left is my desk chair and side table, so maybe I’ll just take those with. I still can’t believe this is all happening..
Sssshhhhh..
Justin and I got in a fight. And then he posted a bulletin of 101 reasons why he loves me. And then I saw it and cried and felt like a douche bag for getting in a fight with him (little does he know that I will only start fights with him even more, just to get these lists). I’ve included it so I always have it.

Cute! Price! Where!
I don’t think people really believe we’re going to California. Every time I tell my mom she seems surprised, and I’ve told her numerous times. I understand, though. Perhaps it’s because I have new ideas all the time, like Iowa City and New York. I promise you all, I’m totally committed to this plan. I’ve already saved a fifth of what I want to take there, thanks to what I’ve made from selling on Ebay and through friends. So you better believe it. I’ve got a few people seriously interested in my stuff. Here’s a generalized list of what I’m selling:
- Couch with matching ottoman and throw pillows
- Entertainment stand and matching end table with glass insert
- Bedside/telephone table (currently used for my typewriter)
- Tall green bookshelf
- Television, DVD player
- 5 x 7 blue area rug
- Floor lamp
- Various frames of different sizes
- Dishes, pots, pans, silverware, utensils
- 6 ft. slim Christmas tree and tons of ornaments
- Arts and crafts supplies
- Stuffed animals, toys, collectibles
- Denver Queen size pillow top mattress with frame
- CDs, DVDs, books
- Office supplies
- HP printer/scanner/fax machine
- Vases and misc. decor
- Microwave
- Stainless steel blender
- Clothes, shoes, accessories
If you’re interested in any of this stuff, let me know. I will take pictures if you request them. Seriously, I have nice stuff you scumbags. Look at my Flickr to see stuff. Make offers on anything you see.
Dammit.
We’re still waiting to hear about Justin’s callback. I’m getting an ulcer from the stress. He’s working on a British play called Design for Living. Scott finally gave him a lead role, along with the ever fantastic Rantastic.
I feel like scum today. I either ate bad sushi or my hormones are going every which way. I left work early to come home and rest, which is definitely helping. Speaking of work, I’m waiting on a background check for a job at a bank. I had a phone and group interview this past week, which both went great. I’m just hoping they don’t judge me based on my credit. My score is good, but my debt to income ratio is scary as f. Living on my own and these stupid braces put me back where I was two years ago, so I need this. I’ll still be working at Hot Topic on nights and weekends for extra money.
Love you all very much, all six of you who read this. Out of curiosity, I want to know who does read this after all these years. Comment and let me know.
Enjoy the silence.
We went up to Des Moines yesterday for Justin’s callback. We drove three hours for about five minutes with the director. And now.. we wait. This whole process is nerve wrecking. I don’t want to get my hopes up, but they already are.
I’ll try to distract myself with life here. Emily is flying in for my graduation party! Seriously, I haven’t seen her since eighth grade. That’s ten years that we have somehow managed to stay in contact. Remember when we were pen pals, Em? I feel bad that she’s wasting a trip on Davenport, Iowa. I imagine that her life in NYC and Philly are heaven in comparison. So.. I have to find things to do that will prevent her from slitting my throat when she remembers how LAME this place is. Suggestions? Maybe I’ll take her up to Iowa City or Chicago. Escape this inferno.

Justin got an email today:
This is to let you know that you have been selected by Michael Lander, the director of Peacock, to meet with him for a callback this week.
Uhh..
I love lamp.
Still eBaying. Sorta becoming addicted to the whole process. At least I’m selling, not buying. I’ve earned quite a bit of money from selling my books, and it looks like the majority of items I’ve listed on eBay will sell. People keep asking me if it’s hard to sell my books and whatnot. It is, but the reward will outweigh all of this. I never want to become so attached to material things that they define who I am. Side note: I’m only not selling that blue lamp in the corner, because it does define who I am. I love lamp.
Other than selling and building a savings account for the first time in my life, I’ve been getting ready for post-graduation. I applied to two places, one of which I had a phone interview with the other day. Someone should be calling me soon to set up a second interview. It’d be a really good job to grow in and transfer to Cali with. I’ve been getting a lot of calls from retailers around here, but I think I’m officially done with the retail management world after I graduate. I do plan to stay at Hot Topic as an associate on nights and weekends, but that’s the extent of it.
Well, I better get writing this paper. Come to my grad party. PEACE.
